The Semester is Over!!

And I am sooooo excited for Christmas! :)

I didn't do my book report. Oh well.

Schoolage

I am very nearly done with this semester.
Hoo-rah!
I'm debating whether or not I should actually finish my book report. I'm not sure how much it affects my grade.
For the most part I'm done with all my homework - I just have to write a 25 question test for linguistics, and write five deaf events, which I'll do tomorrow, because I'm lazy and I've got important things distracting me like Facebook and blogs.

Woo hoo for Friday, when I'll officially be completely done with this semester! :)

Avoiding Homework

Oh man I can't wait til Friday! My two huge projects will be over and done with, and I can go back to being a normal college student who doesn't do anything! After this week, only two more weeks left, including finals week.

The other night I did some Christmas shopping online. Man, things are expensive.

Today I posted a note on Facebook, 16 Random Things about myself:

1. My favorite part of Thanksgiving is stuffing.

2. My family ALWAYS takes the Christmas decorations (including the tree) down ON CHRISTMAS because my mom feels that once the presents are over, Christmas might as well be, too.

3. In fourth grade I was obsessed with Sailor Moon.

4. However, it was nothing compared to fifth grade (up through now), when I had my love affair with the Harry Potter books.

5. Speaking of Harry Potter, the movies are CRAP. Everyone is surprised to hear I think that, and it's annoying. (Note: the sixth movie trailer actually made me say in my head "I kind of want to see that." But I'm not holding my breath.)

6. Also in fourth grade (I think), the neighbor kids and I took our Barbies, our hamsters, and a video camera, and made the ever-classic film entitled "Planet of the Hamsters." Needless to say, fourth grade was awesome.

7. In sixth grade my hair was super short and I had no boobs so almost everyone I met had to ask me if I was a boy or girl. Those who didn't ask just assumed I was a boy. I suppose my name didn't help the matter.

8. I can admit that Twilight is very chick-flicky and I know that it is definitely not the most well-written book ever and that Edward Cullen doesn't really exist and is not just biding his time to come sweep me off my feet. I can also admit that my obsession with such things is completely ridiculous. Nevertheless, I am just that - obsessed. On the inside at least :)

9. I want to go to a LOTR convention. I am that nerdy.

10. I would most likely take any kind of emotional pain or stress over physical pain. (unless it was like my husband or kids died or something. Then I'd take the broken arm.)

11. Every year for Christmas I mostly just ask for video games.

12. I am one of the world's biggest procrastinators, and I know it.

13. All through middle school I wouldn't put anything up on my walls if it didn't have to do with Harry Potter. And the walls were full.

14. I don't like Apple's current aluminum look. I much prefer the older white plastic look.

15. I've never been to a wedding, unless receptions count, in which case I've only been to one.

16. No matter what book I read, almost every character's house has one of two floorplans in my head: A) My grandparents' house B) my old babysitter's house (note that the two are very similar, lol). If the houses in the book have stairs, then the stairs go where the hall is. I don't do this on purpose, it just happens to be how I wind up picturing it. I can only think of three houses off the top of my head where this doesn't apply: The Riddle House (from HP), 12 Grimmauld Place (from HP), and the Cullen house (from Twilight). Funny enough, the Riddle House and the Cullen house are pretty much the same, except mirrored. (And the inside of the Cullen house is white, where the inside of the Riddle House is all dark wood)

Been a While

Turns out the towing company put the charge back on and it went through. Because, you know, they're a scummy towing company.

Twilight came out last Friday. Kristen Whatever-her-face-is is a TERRIBLE actor and parts of the movie are kind of weird, but I'm still somehow addicted. I think it may have something to do with how absolutely gorgeous Robert Pattinson is. As a side note, I hate Jacob in the books, and the actor is not cute. Just doesn't do it for me. Sorry Taylor Lautner, but you will always be Sharkboy to me.

Check out my new furry friend! =] You can feed him!

Courtney's boyfriend called the tow truck company and was able to get a FULL REFUND! Because the towing company filled out the paper/receipt they gave us wrong. So that's a load off my back! :)

In Chico I was able to find a new battery charger for my video camera, which makes me super happy. I was starting to itch without it.

=(

Last night my car was towed from the apartment parking lot I'm visiting in Chico. This morning I had to pick it up, so Courtney's boyfriend drove Courtney and I to the place it was towed to. It cost freaking $210 to get my car back. It would have been like $295 but the guy was pretty nice and didn't charge the gate-opening fee. Baaaaaah. At least I have my car, and we put a permit in it so it doesn't get towed again.

Oh Boy

Let me tell you how excited I am for working during the holiday season:

.........................

That pretty much sums it up. But hopefully I'll have more hours and more money. =) Always a plus.

Today I started putting together my Christmas list - most everything on my list right now is a video game - and what isn't a video game is something Harry Potter related. I'm so predictable.

Also, be sure to check out my new link on the linkbar at the top - Super Obama World. It's pretty fantastic.

Today

Today I learned that the signed alphabet in New Zealand is the same as the one in England (so I'm assuming that's the same for Australia - I don't know if New Zealand and Australia sign the same or not). A friend on Sunday speculated that Australia was under English rule for a while, which I had forgotten about. So it makes way more sense to me now.
Anywho, not much really happened today. I should have done homework, but I didn't, so that's about it.
The workers at the Apple store from Switzerland leave Friday morning, so tomorrow is the last day they'll be here. Sad day :( They're a lot of fun.

=D

Today I was on Deafread.com - a website that has a bunch of links to various vlogs/blogs related to Deafness and sign language. I ran across one vlog of a deaf man in England who uses BSL (British Sign Language), which was very interesting. He also had a few videos of himself signing in ASL, since he is in the process of learning it. I ran across another vlog of a signer using Auslan - Australian sign language. I already knew that BSL sometimes uses both hands to fingerspell, but watching the Auslan vlog I realized that Auslan does too. I think it's really weird that two out of three English-speaking countries would use both hands to fingerspell - it just seems so cumbersome to me. But anyway, I also ran across one blog of a hearing person who is learning ASL, and she is LDS. She talked about how one missionary promised their congregation that if they read the whole Book of Mormon in another language, they would have it mastered, and then she started talking about how she started watching the ASL version of the Book of Mormon. HOW COOL IS THAT?! I didn't even know it existed! I'm totally psyched; I am so going to do it!

Rain! :)

Rainy weather makes me want to write.
Unfortunately, I feel like I have nothing to write about.
Suggestions?

Friday, October 31

Whut.

It is amazing to me how people behave towards someone when something doesn't go the way it was originally planned. Granted, I may not know a lot about certain situations, but making public comments about peoples' friends that are intended to be hurtful, no matter what the case, is nothing but a sign of immaturity. If you decide you're going to be immature all over your own Facebook, Myspace, Blog, whatever, go right ahead. But your comments will be deleted when you do it on mine.

I am Frustrated...

...with my "post a comment" things not working!!

Halloween

Tra-la-la! I switched shifts with somebody for tomorrow night, so now I can go to the NMBC party at the institute! I'm excited to carve some pumpkins!!

I decided what I'm going to dress up as, so today I went to Target to get some jewelry for my costume. I wound up spending fifty bucks :( Oh well. I like Halloween, and hopefully most of it I'll find some excuse to wear again. Pictures to come, I'm sure!

Trick or Treat! :)

I voted yesterday! Go me! I am a responsible American citizen. Make sure you do the same!! (Learn how to vote early in Santa Clara County here).

Also, if you're ever extremely bored and have nothing better to do, Target (especially during Halloween time) never fails to provide plenty of amusement:

And just as a side note, I will be very excited when it is December and this semester is over.
